Hints and Tips

When planning a wedding there are lots of things to think about and it can be quite overwhelming. Below I have put together some hints and tips that will help you with your wedding stationery and favours.

Save the Date Cards

As weddings are often booked so far in advance, you may like to send out save the date cards to let your family and friends know the date of your wedding.

Wedding Invitations

I have composed several example insert wordings on the wording page, but if you wish to compose your own, they must contain the following information:

• Names of the hosts
• First name of the bride (for civil partnerships and commitment ceremonies first or full names of the    couple)
• First and surname of the bridegroom
• Where the ceremony is taking place
• Date, month and year of the wedding ceremony
• Time of the ceremony
• Location of the wedding reception
• RSVP date and address to which guests must reply

Traditionally wedding invitations were set out 6 weeks prior to the wedding date, but these days they are sent out considerably earlier. I would recommend sending out your invitations 12 weeks prior to your event and having an RSVP date 8 weeks prior to your event. This will give all concerned plenty of time to get organized for your special day.

When deciding how many invitations you will need, work on the basis of one invitation per family including a courtesy one for the groom's parents and the minister and their partner. Also include any family and friends that you know won't be able to attend, but who would appreciate receiving an invitation.

It is advisable to order a few spare invitations if you are going to write in the guest names yourself, this will allow for mistakes and any extra guests you may decide to ask at a later date.

Extra Information

Information sheets can prove to be very useful for guests and they can contain a wealth of information about your special day. Please see the extra information page for further details.

Order of Service/Order of the Day

When deciding how many order of service you will need, work on the basis of one per guest, including the minister and choir. If you are on a tight budget, work on the basis of one between two.

Favours

There are a huge variety of favours that you can choose from and several ways to package them. For more detailed information please see the favours page.
